Who Should Attend?

This training is a basic starter or refresher aimed at participants who wish to increase their knowledge of Blood Borne Viruses including current diagnosis and treatment pathways

Target Audience

This session is a basic starter or refresher aimed at participants who wish to increase their knowledge of Blood Borne Viruses including current diagnosis and treatment pathways. 

Level of prior knowledge Little or None

AimTo increase knowledge and understanding of Blood Borne Viruses

 Objectives

  • Explore prevalence of BBVs locally
  • Identify transmission routes and explore the issues relating to testing for BBVs (this includes how to test)
  • Increase knowledge regarding referral pathways for testing, treatment and support
  • Explore prevention / risk reduction measures for these clients
  • Gain an understanding of the GG&C policy on management of Occupational / Non-Occupational exposure to BBVs including PEP/PEPSE
