Ready for Sex

A lot of girls talk about having sex for the first time as something they want to be very special, with the right person and in circumstances where they feel loved. Some young women worry about their reputation if it is known they have had sex and because of this some young women use alcohol as way to have sex and use alcohol as an excuse. Some young women end up having sex before they are ready for sex

There is more information on helping you to decide if you're ready for sex on the Be Books website in the Ask Jill section.

Sex can be a really wonderful part of being alive. When you are 16, the law says that you can have sex.  Most young people (over 70%) wait until they are 16 before having a sexual relationship. Some young people have sex before they are 16 and very often say that they wished they had waited until later and that they were not ready for it when it first happened.

Therefore sex is something that is best left until you are sure you are fully able to deal with it.

If you are under 16 this information can help you to make the right choices for when the time comes and you do feel ready to have sex.
