The other big change that happens with feelings is that you will
probably start to fancy people and find that you think about them a
lot. You might find them sexy and attractive and that you want to
spend lots of time with them. You might even feel jealous when they
spend time with anyone else.
Talk about your feelings if you can, with someone you like and
trust.
Sometimes when girls go through puberty it might be that they
are attracted to boys or sometimes to girls or even both. This is
quite normal and lots of people going through puberty experience
this.
As time goes on you'll find it becomes clearer whether you're
more attracted to boys or girls or both. Whoever you're interested
in it can be helpful to talk about your feelings with someone you
really trust.
If it feels ok, ask an adult that you really trust how they
found it going through these changes when they were your age.
Whatever you're feeling you're certainly not the only one.
Here's what a lot of girls your age are worried about when they
ring Child Line
- They are worried about the changes happening to their bodies,
periods, vaginal secretions
- They are worried about how their bodies and breasts look
compared to other bodies that they might see, for example in the
showers
- They are worried about being pressured into doing things they
don't want to do
- They worry about what would happen if they got pregnant.
So it's good to talk about your feelings. If you don't feel you
can talk to anyone else then you could phone Child Line.
It's completely confidential and the number won't show up on any
phone bills.
