At The Place, we have a support worker for young people, (see foot of page for contact details). This is someone you can talk to about any worries you may have around alcohol or drugs. This support is confidential.

Perhaps you are concerned about your own

use of alcohol or drugs! - If so, come along to The Place and talk to someone who knows how this can feel, who will listen to your worries, and who wishes to help. You will not be criticised or judged. The Place offers a safe environment where you can talk in confidence about any troubles or worries you might be experiencing around alcohol or drugs. If you are worried or anxious, our worker will help to make this process relaxing and comfortable.

Is someone else’s drinking getting you down?

Many young people live in families with a parent who drinks heavily.

"When dad’s been drinking, he changes...I hate this!!!!"

A parent’s drinking can make the whole family unhappy. Their behaviour can often make you feel angry, frightened and confused. This is unsettling and can affect you in many ways, feeling lonely, not able to concentrate at school and feeling different to your friends.

Is this happening to you?

Talking to someone you can trust and who understands can make a difference! Remember you are not alone and will be given help and support. Sometimes people who drink heavily will blame others for their drinking. Don’t blame yourself. Always remember it is not your fault – you are not to blame - it is not your responsibility.

If you want to talk, you can drop in without an appointment at The Place clinic on Tuesdays to Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm.

You can phone Monday to Friday to arrange an appointment or to ask advice – leave your name and contact number, the support worker will phone you back.

The young persons’ support worker attends Pollok Health Centre on Monday evenings from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
