Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual

Some people know from a young age that they are lesbian, gay or bisexual while others realise their sexual identity over time. Your sexual health and relationships are important to us and Sandyford welcomes people of all sexual identities.

It is estimated that between 5-7% of the population are lesbian, gay or bisexual. A recent research study showed that 7% of men and 16% of women have ever had a sexual experience with someone of the same sex.

Not everyone feels able to act on their feelings, for fear of discrimination. However, everyone has the right to a happy, healthy life, which includes personal relationships which are safe and pleasurable.

Your sexual health and relationships are important to us and Sandyford welcomes people of all different sexual identities. Our staff are trained in sexual health issues for lesbian, gay and bisexual people and are non-judgemental, and will keep your information fully confidential.

If you are not sure about your sexual identity or you have difficult feelings about your sexual identity, you can get support with this from Sandyford Counselling and Support Service.

We provide a dedicated sexual health service for gay and bisexual men called TheĀ Steve Retson Project.
