Providing services for women involved in prostitution:

Glasgow has a range of specialist projects that support women who are, or have been involved in prostitution. Many are provided by Sandyford, and link to the (which is funded by the Scottish Executive) Routes Out Of Prostitution Social Inclusion Partnership or the Rough Sleeper’s Initiative. Base 75 is a joint project with Glasgow City Council, that provides clinical and practical support to women still working in prostitution. Base 75 is 10 years old, and meets the clinical and support needs of many women every night within a newly-refurbished space near to the main area for street prostitution in the city centre.

Base 75 is part of the Routes Out Of Prostitution SIP which advocates for women to exit prostitution if they wish to, and highlights where barriers exist that prevent women exiting. Until recently, the SIP’s Intervention Team, providing support for women, was based in Sandyford and the Team still use space within the building to meet clients because of its anonymity and non-judgmental ethos.

The Connections 2 Counselling Project provides confidential counselling to women who are, or have been involved in prostitution, and who wish to address deep-seated emotional issues.
