Principle Four ~
To recognise and actively address the needs of different population groups.

Providing services for refugees and asylum seekers:

Glasgow is home to a large number of refugees and asylum seekers, and the Sandyford Initiative in its main service and community based clinics provides many of this population group with health care and other services. Staff training and information support helps ensure a sensitive and understanding approach.

Sandyford’s Springburn clinic in North Glasgow holds a weekly clinical session which is well used by refugees and asylum seekers, and a group for women refugees and asylum seekers meets in the Centre For Women’s Health within the Sandyford Initiative.

The Place (young people’s service) satellite holds an outreach clinic at Sighthill (where many of Glasgow’s population of refugees and asylum seekers live) providing education and the condom-card scheme for young asylum seekers.
