Principle One ~
To embody a social model of health that accounts for all the health determinants that can affect individuals and communities (communities of interest and geographical communities) in the delivery of care and service.

Providing comprehensive information access to Sandyford users, members of the public and Sandyford staff:

The Sandyford Library provides information and books on all aspects of health and wellbeing especially emotional, sexual and reproductive health. It is open to Sandyford users and all Glasgow’s population can access materials via the City Council community library service of which Sandyford Library is a part. Visitors can also use the NHS Open Learning Centre to learn and update skills. Sandyford staff can access the Sandyford Staff Library, a professional library in Sandyford with access to other NHS library stock and educational services.

Sandyford also provides free access to electronic health information through the Internet. Sandyford users can use internet-linked computers whilst waiting or come in especially to surf the net. This project, developed with Glasgow City Council, is funded through the Scottish Executive and has also enabled the development of the new Glasgow-focused health information web site called Access Glasgow.
