Welcome to the Sandyford Initiative main website for staff. This part of the site has been specifically designed to provide background information for health professionals, policy makers and other interested parties. You may also wish to visit our sister sites designed for the public (click here) and for GPs in Glasgow (click here). We also have sites specifically targeted for men who have sex with men (click here) and for young people (click here).
The Sandyford Initiative was launched in Glasgow in 2000 when it brought together Genitourinary Medicine Family Planning, the Centre for Women's Health and the Steve Retson Project (for men who have sex with men). We aim to provide services using a social model of health. You can get more information by clicking on the buttons on our aims/objectives and principles. A full range of recent Annual Reports are available to download here. (Please note that these documents are located on the Public section of the Sandyford site).
EXTERNAL PROFESSIONALS VISIT TO THE SANDYFORD INITIATIVE:
Every 3 months, the Sandyford Initiative opens its doors to external professionals who may be interested in the background to the service, and how Sandyford applies its integrated social model of health.
There will be two types of visits running during the year 2007, the first being ‘Professional visits’, where organisations that are looking to amalgamate their services are welcome to come along to our open days on:
These visits will run from 10am - 4pm, with an initial tour of the building encompassing each organisation. You will then have the opportunity to put your questions to a panel of Sandyford staff where lunch will be provided.
The second type will be ‘Local Visits’, where organisations within the Glasgow and Clyde area are welcome to come along to our open days on:
These visits will run from 2pm 3:30pm, with Colin MacKillop, Community Access Co-ordinator taking you on a tour of the building encompassing each organisation, you will then have the opportunity to ask questions.
If you are interested in coming along to any of the above open days, please contact Louise McLaughlin, Community Access Administrator by email on gail.carins@ggc.scot.nhs.uk or by telephone on 0141 211 8168 for more information, or to request a place.
