The Sexual Health Advisers 'Chlamydia Shared Care Initiative', developed in conjunction with the NHS Greater Glasgow GP Subcommittee, was launched in November 2002, providing ongoing support, advice and education in the management of Chlamydia and other sexually transmitted infections diagnosed at GP practices throughout Primary Care.

With the agreement of the GP Subcommittee, copies of all positive Chlamydia results from each GP practice are forwarded to the Sexual Health Adviser team at the Sandyford Initiative, allowing a Sexual Health Adviser to contact the practice to offer immediate advice and support. A special leaflet is available to give to all clients at the time of their chlamydia test to ensure they understand the role of the Health Adviser and what happens with their results.
