24 to 30 September 2018 is Sexual Health Week

24 SEP 2018 - 01:00 to 30 SEP 2018 - 23:59

Sexual Health Week is an annual awareness campaign which seeks to inform the public, influence service providers and support health professionals. It is led by the Family Planning Association (FPA).

The focus of this year’s campaign is Consent.

Consent means giving permission for or agreeing to do something and being comfortable with that decision.

This animated video explores what consent is and what it does and does not look like. It is a fun and simple approach to looking at consent. If you like it, share it (we borrowed it from Canada, which is why it mentions Canadians).

At Sandyford, we believe that sex should be pleasurable and consensual;
and you should be able to protect yourself from unintended conception and sexually transmitted infections.

There is information on consent and what it means on our young peoples website.

There is additional information on the Disrespect Nobody page too.

As a parent, how do you tell your young child about consent? This video on our website for parents might help.

If you are worried that something has happened to you without your consent, contact the Archway Sexual Assault Referral Centre, in complete confidence.
