The term men who have sex with men is used to describe men who
identify as gay or bisexual and also men who may identify as
straight or heterosexual who have sex with other men.
Men who have sex with men are disproportionately affected by HIV
and other sexually transmitted infections in NHS Greater
Glasgow and Clyde. Below you will find some useful reports and
documents relating to HIV prevention and sexual health
improvement work targeting men who have sex with men. These reports
have both a local, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and also a UK and
Scottish focus.
National and UK:
1. Good Practice Guidance on HIV Prevention in Men
having Sex with Men (MSM)
Recently published by the Health Protection Network, Good Practice Guidance on HIV Prevention in
MSM sets out the best available evidence to date. It is
intended to be a practical tool for local commissioners, planners
and delivery agencies to design and evaluate intervention responses
to the Sexual Health & Blood Bourne Virus Framework 2011-15.
Implementing this guidance should:

ensure that interventions are evidence informed

ensure an authentic MSM-informed, local approach

strengthen skills, expertise already in place within the Third
Sector locally and nationally
